Rose Parade, Pasadena, CA

Happy New Year!

Who doesn’t love a parade, right? For the past eight years, I have worked with a tour company taking “active” senior citizens to the Rose Parade on New Year’s day and a number of other tours around the country throughout the year.

One of the many problems with working the parade on New Year’s Day is blowing my New Year’s Resolution “Don’t eat junk food” by 7:30 am. Year after year. This photo is proof.

I grew up in Los Angeles, where you can find a Latino woman selling bacon-wrapped hot dogs in your local bar’s parking lot at closing. Brilliant! The bread soaks up the booze, the bacon gives you needed energy, and the hot dog… well, who doesn’t love a hot dog at 2 am?

With this being my first day of the year, let me explain a little about this website. There are just SO many crazy things that happen while I am on tour, that I just can’t remember them all. Having a daily explanation about my On-Tour Life is the purpose of this blog. Too many people think being a Tour Director is “being on vacation every day” or “…you have the easiest job” or “…How the FUCK do you deal with these lunatics every day?” Ergo, this blog. I hope you enjoy.
