Sydney, I am tired

January 15, 2018

I’m not as young as I used to be.

I once was able to walk 15 miles a day when travelling. Never stopping. Carrying everything on my back. Now at 45, and keep in mind my job is to travel, so this is even more pathetic, I walk for 6 hours non-stop, look at a lot of amazing and beautiful things, but I’m just exhausted. Today, I had to go back to the hotel, make a cup of coffee, take off my shoes and more importantly, my pants, and relax a bit before heading out again. Getting older sucks.

Hands down one of the best ways to sightsee in a new city is to buy the hop-on-hop-off bus ticket for at least the two days, and I recommend getting the upgrade. It usually comes with a harbor cruise and some kind of other attraction that is well worth the value.

I did not have any time to prepare for this trip to Sydney so what I did yesterday as I drove around on top of the hop-on-hop-off bus, as I got a nice pink sunburn, was read my mini-Lonely Planet Sydney book about the various stops and neighborhoods. Today I went back to those areas aboard the bus and checked them all out.

I took the harbor cruise early in the morning because I knew the sun was going to be out and it wasn’t windy yet. Great views of the city and of course the Sydney Opera house with a bridge in the background. It was gorgeous.
