Arbroath Abbey was founded in 1178 by William I – also known as William the Lion.

Arbroath Abbey is best known for the Declaration of Arbroath. The most famous document in Scottish history was a letter to Pope John XXII sent by 39 Scottish nobles, barons and freemen in response to the renewed excommunication of Robert the Bruce.

My favorite part of this day was heading out to this lighthouse. Big shock- there was absolutely nowhere to park and got stuck on a very narrow road with no turn around, so I parked on the sidewalk. That’s becoming my second favorite thing to do.
